lubao sunset

for more than three years i have been living in lubao pampanga, and one of the things that i love about this place is the sunset. i have never experienced sunsets this serene in my whole life. it may not be as postcard-perfect as manila bay sunsets, but seeing the sun retreat behind the zambales mountain range somehow washes all your day's burden. the sight of carabaos parading down the dirt road after a hard day's work in front of their barefooted masters gives you a feeling that you're in an amorsolo painting. the oranges and reds and violets and blues makes me think that they are masterfully painted by the DIVINE MASTER. it is a pity that people who have lived all their lives here miss the beauty of the sunset. maybe they are so consumed by their worries, and all. i wish that people would start to see everything with awe, that everyday is a manifestation of small miracles and that the most beautiful things in this world are not found in things that are bought with legal tender.
these beautiful sunsets remind me that it may be dark soon but light promises to appear the next day, and that the thin line between light and dark can be the most beautiful thing a person can experience. it maybe figurative and all, but i would like to believe that it is literal too. i may not be a poet but the rhythm of the unspoken and unwritten are at work in the beautifully painted sky of a lubao sunset.
